5 Ways To Save On Utility Bills – Part 1

Energy prices and grocery bills are all quickly going up, so it only makes sense for people to be looking for new ways to save money. Your utility bills are often one of the best areas in which you can start saving. Making a few simple savings could help you save hundreds of dollars in the long run.

  1. Compare prices

You might think that all utility companies offer the same prices. However, that is often not true. Making adjustments to your current plan and even switching providers will often lead to you saving a lot of money on your utility bills. So don’t be afraid to shop around for the best deal.

  1. Set your thermostat correctly

Your thermostat could be one of the biggest energy wasters in your home. If you reduce your energy bills, then you might want to set your thermostat at a regular but reasonable temperature. Even one-degree difference can make up to 10% difference in your energy usage, so remember that when setting your temperature.

  1. Use Late Night energy

Most energy companies will charge less if you use electricity during non-peak hours. By running your appliances in the night, you will be able to benefit from those lower prices while finishing up your chores.

  1. Use cold temperatures in your washing machine

When washing your clothes with cold water you could save up to 90% of the energy you might have previously spent on washing your clothes. This is because water heating is actually the most expensive part of washing your clothes. By opting for cold water, you will reduce your bills and protect your clothes.

  1. Don’t use Standby

Most people will leave their devices on standby rather than fully unplug them or turn them off. Devices left on standby will still use electricity and thus, cost you money. Therefore, unplugging them is the better option for saving on your utility bills.
